Beschreibung
The trunk bark of Hernandia ovigera L. also contains this aporphine alkaloid which is obtained as an amorphous powder with no definite melting point. It
yields a crystalline hydrochloride, m.p. 245-7°C (dec.). Oxidizing the base with
chromic acid in pyridine yields hernandonine, m.p. > 280°C.
