Biochem/physiol Actions
Protein AF-10 is a protein encoded by the MLLT10 gene in humans. It encodes for a 109-kD protein of 1,027 amino acids and contains an N-terminal zinc finger region and a C-terminal leucine zipper. The gene encode a new class of transcription factors, some of which are targets for chromosomal translocation in acute leukemia and malignant lymphoma. It binds cruciform DNA by a specific interaction with an AT-hook motif and is localized to the nucleus by a defined bipartite nuclear localization signal in the N-terminal region.
