GENERAL METHOD: Tristyrene (1.0 g, 3.49 mmol) was dissolved in chloroform (15 mL) and a chloroform (10 mL) solution of bromine (0.49 g, 3.06 mmol) was added slowly and dropwise. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was decanted and the solvent was subsequently removed by distillation. The residue was recrystallized twice from ethanol to give triphenylene bromide (0.8 g, 62%) as colorless needle-like crystals. | [References]
