Step A 1,3-Dihydro-2H-isoindole-1-carboxylic acid N-BOC-1,3-dihydro-2H-isoindole-1-carboxylic acid (Neosystem, 0.5 g, 1.9 mmol) was dissolved in EtOAc and HCl gas was bubbled through the solution for a few seconds. The reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 10 minutes and then concentrated in vacuo to afford 1,3-dihydro-2H-isoindole-1-carboxylic acid, hydrochloride (0.31 gm, 100%) which was used without further purification in the subsequent reaction.
