GAD65 (524-543) is the amino acid 524 to 543 fragment of glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65). GAD65 (524-543) is one of the first fragments of this islet antigen, which can induce proliferative T cell response in the non obese diabetes (NOD) mouse model of spontaneous autoimmune diabetes. This peptide is a specific stimulus to spontaneously generated diabetes T cell clone BDC2.5, and may have low affinity. Immunization with p524-543 increased the susceptibility of NOD mice to type 1 diabetes induced by adoptive transfer of BDC2.5 T cells.
