Argonaute2 (AGO2) is a critical protein component of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), a central machinery in post-transcriptional gene regulation. It plays a pivotal role in small RNA-guided gene silencing pathways, including microRNA (miRNA)-mediated mRNA degradation/translation repression and small interfering RNA (siRNA)-driven RNA interference (RNAi). AGO2 binds to small RNA molecules (miRNAs or siRNAs) and uses them as guides to target complementary mRNA sequences, leading to gene silencing through mRNA cleavage or recruitment of additional silencing factors.

AGO2 antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and function in diverse biological contexts. These antibodies enable researchers to detect AGO2 protein levels via Western blotting, immunoprecipitation (IP), or immunofluorescence (IF), and to investigate its interactions with other RISC components or target mRNAs.
