NLRP7 (NLR Family Pyrin Domain Containing 7) is a member of the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor (NLR) family, which plays critical roles in innate immunity, inflammation, and reproductive biology. It is primarily expressed in the cytoplasm and has been implicated in the regulation of inflammatory caspases and cytokine maturation, though its exact mechanistic role remains less defined compared to other NLRs like NLRP3. NLRP7 gained attention due to its association with recurrent hydatidiform moles (RHMs), a rare gestational disorder characterized by abnormal embryonic development. Mutations in the *NLRP7* gene are linked to autosomal recessive conditions causing biparental hydatidiform moles, highlighting its essential role in early embryogenesis and genomic imprinting.

Antibodies targeting NLRP7 are vital tools for studying its expression, localization, and function in both physiological and pathological contexts. These antibodies are commonly used in techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to investigate NLRP7’s involvement in inflammasome formation, apoptosis, and immune responses. Recent studies also explore its potential role in cancers and autoimmune diseases, where dysregulated NLRP7 expression may contribute to disease progression. However, challenges remain in standardizing NLRP7 antibodies due to the protein’s structural complexity and low abundance in certain tissues. Ongoing research aims to refine antibody specificity and uncover therapeutic strategies targeting NLRP7-related pathways in reproductive disorders and chronic inflammation.
