PRG3 (Proteoglycan 3), also known as BMPC (bone marrow proteoglycan) or bamacan, is a core component of the extracellular matrix (ECM) belonging to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family. It plays a regulatory role in cell-matrix interactions, tissue organization, and cellular signaling pathways. Structurally, PRG3 consists of a core protein with leucine-rich repeats and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chains, enabling interactions with collagen, growth factors, and cell surface receptors. Dysregulation of PRG3 has been implicated in pathological conditions, including fibrosis, inflammation, and cancer. For instance, PRG3 overexpression is observed in glioblastoma, breast cancer, and other solid tumors, where it may promote tumor progression by enhancing ECM remodeling, cell proliferation, and metastasis.

PRG3 antibodies are immunological tools designed to detect and quantify PRG3 expression in research and diagnostic contexts. These antibodies are widely used in techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to study PRG3's spatial distribution, expression levels, and interactions in tissues or cell cultures. Recent studies also explore PRG3 as a potential biomarker for cancer prognosis or a therapeutic target. However, the functional complexity of PRG3 in ECM dynamics and disease mechanisms remains under investigation, necessitating further research to clarify its roles in health and pathology.
