Introduction: Furoic acid (chemical formula: C5H4O3) is white monoclinic long shuttle-shaped crystals. 1g of furoic acid can be dissolved in 26ml cold water or 4ml boiling water, easily soluble in ethanol and ether. Sublimation at 130-140℃ (6.65-8kPa). It can be used to synthesize methyl furan, furfural amide and furfuric acid ester and salt. It can be used in plastic industry as plasticizer, thermosetting resin, etc. Used as preservative in food industry, also used as paint additive, intermediate of medicine and spice etc. It is obtained from the oxidation of furfural by air.
