Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
Pyridoxal Isonicotinoyl Hydrazone is a cell-permeable non-toxic iron chelator of the aroyl hydrazone class. | [General Description]
A cell-permeable, non-toxic tridendate iron (Fe3+) chelator of the aroyl hydrazone class. Even at low concentrations, highly effective in mobilizing Fe3+ from cells and preventing its uptake from transferrin, even at low concentrations. Exhibits similar specificity and binding affinity as Deferoxamine Mesylate (Cat. No. 252750) but has greater access to mitochondrial iron. Also useful for the management of iron overload disease in experimental models. Inhibits the induction of heme containing indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase activity. | [reaction suitability]
reagent type: chelator | [storage]
