Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
1-ethyl-3-nitrobenzene is used as an organic synthesis intermediate for the synthesis of m-nitroacetylbenzene. | [Synthesis Reference(s)]
Tetrahedron Letters, 28, p. 1321, 1987 DOI: 10.1016/S0040-4039(00)95359-0 | [Synthesis]
General method: 0.015 g of catalyst was dissolved with 2 mmol of 3-nitrostyrene in 10 mL of ethanol under standard reaction conditions in a hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction process was monitored in real time by thin layer chromatography (TLC). After complete conversion of the feedstock, the catalyst was removed by simple filtration, followed by evaporation of the solvent under reduced pressure to obtain purified 1-ethyl-3-nitrobenzene or 3-ethylaniline. | [References]
