Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Synthesis]
The general procedure for the synthesis of 1-bromo-4-trimethylsilylbenzene from trimethylchlorosilane and 1,4-dibromobenzene was as follows: the synthesis was carried out using the photoinitiator PI-1 as shown in Scheme 1. The specific operation was as follows: 1,4-dibromobenzene (23.6 g, 100 mmol) was dissolved in 200 mL of anhydrous ether in a 500 mL three-necked flask equipped with a thermometer, a condensing device and a dropping funnel. Slowly n-butyllithium (41.7 mL, 2.4 M in THF) was added dropwise at -78 °C. After completion of the reaction, the reaction was quenched by the addition of trimethylchlorosilane (5.2 mL, 40 mmol) at the same temperature to give the intermediate IM-1 (22 g, 96% yield) as an oil. | [References]
