General procedure for the synthesis of 1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamide from 1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid: 1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid (10 g, 71.43 mmol) was mixed with sulfinyl chloride (SOCl2, 25.5 g, 214.29 mmol), and the reaction was carried out at reflux for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was concentrated under vacuum. Subsequently, 200 mL of ammonia (NH3-H2O) was slowly added dropwise to the residue at 0 °C and the reaction was carried out under stirring. At the end of the reaction, the solid product was collected by filtration to afford 8 g (81% yield) of 1,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamide as a white solid. | [References]
