A solution of 4-(4-methoxybenzyl)-3-methylmorpholine (7 g, 31.53 mmol, 1.00 eq.) in methanol (70 mL) was added to a 250 mL round-bottom flask under nitrogen protection. A 10% palladium-carbon catalyst (2 g) was then added. After passing hydrogen (H2), the reaction mixture was stirred in an oil bath at 50 °C overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the solid catalyst was removed by filtration. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 2.1 g (66% yield) of 3-methylmorpholine as a yellow oil.LC-MS analysis: (ES, m/z): 102 [M + H]+. | [References]
