GENERAL METHOD: Compound (CAS: 87107-79-7) (3 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (30 mL) at 50 °C, followed by slow addition of 85% hydrazine hydrate (0.19 mL, 3.3 mmol). The reaction temperature was maintained at 50 °C and the reaction mixture was stirred continuously for 4 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and the solids were separated by filtration. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude product 2-(benzyloxy)ethylamine in 90% yield. | [References]
