Pirfenidone is in a group of medicines called antifibrotic agents. Pirfenidone has demonstrated activity in multiple fibrotic conditions, including those of the lung, kidney and liver. It affects your body’s immune system and reduces the amount of fibrosis (scarring) in the lungs.
