Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Description]
5,10,15,20-Tetrakis(4-methoxyphenyl)-21H,23H-porphine is a synthetic porphyrin derivative with significant applications in various fields. Its unique photophysical properties make it a valuable compound for use in optical sensors and photodynamic therapy (PDT). For example, it has been extensively studied for its triplet state characteristics, which show that it is an effective photosensitizer with high triplet quantum yield (0.63-0.84), long triplet lifetime (around 300 ns in the presence of air), and high quantum yield for singlet oxygen production (ΦΔ≈0.7) . These properties make it a promising candidate for PDT applications, where it can generate reactive oxygen species to destroy cancer cells. Additionally, its derivatives, such as metal complexes, have been used in the development of optical waveguide sensors. | [Uses]
