GENERAL METHOD: Methyl 3-aryl-2-azidoacrylate (20.0 mmol) was added in a single addition to a pre-heated to reflux xylene solution (75 mL) and the reaction was kept at reflux for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by rotary evaporator. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography with mixed petroleum ether/ethyl acetate solvent as eluent. The synthesis of compounds 12, 18 and 19 has been reported in the literature [9b, 13, 14]. | [References]
