Using 9-(3-bromophenyl)-9H-carbazole (20 g, 62 mmol) and phenylboronic acid (9.08 g, 74 mmol) as raw materials, Pd(PPh3)4 (0.7 g, 0.621 mmol) and K2CO3 (17.2 g, 124 mmol) were added to a mixed solvent of ethanol (200 mL) and toluene (800 mL) under argon protection in a mixture of ethanol (200 mL) and toluene (800 mL). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux and stirred continuously for 12 hours. After completion of the reaction, it was cooled to room temperature and the product was purified by reprecipitation to afford 9-([1,1'-biphenyl]-3-yl)-9H-carbazole (16.2 g, yield: 82%). | [References]
