7-Methoxyindan-1-one oxime (2.92 g, 16 mmol) was dissolved in acetic acid (150 mL) and the hydrogenation reaction was carried out using an H-cube hydrogenation reactor under the following conditions set at a flow rate of 1 mL/min, a temperature of 80 °C, a pressure of 100 bar, and a catalyst of 10% Pd/C. Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent in the reaction mixture was removed by evaporation and the residue was dissolved in methanol, followed by the addition of 1 equiv. of hydrochloric acid in methanol. The solvent was evaporated again and the resulting residue was ground with ether to give 7-methoxy-1-aminoindan hydrochloride (2.38 g, 12 mmol, 75% yield). Electrospray mass spectrometry (ESMS) showed m/z 147 ([M + H]+). | [References]
