Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Synthesis]
GENERAL METHOD: Malonic acid (1.04 g, 10 mmol) and ammonium formate (1.26 g, 20 mmol) were dissolved in ethanol (50 mL), followed by the addition of 2-fluorobenzaldehyde (10 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 7 hours. After completion of the reaction, it was cooled to room temperature and the crude product was collected by filtration. The crude product was purified by recrystallization (using 95% ethanol as a solvent) to give 3-amino-3-(2-fluorophenyl)propionic acid as a final white solid. | [References]
