GENERAL METHOD: 4-Fluoronitrobenzene (2 g, 14.2 mmol) and anhydrous K2CO3 (2.2 g, 15.6 mmol) were dissolved in DMSO (5 mL) and stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes. N-ethylpiperazine (14.2 mmol) was slowly added dropwise and the reaction mixture continued to be stirred at room temperature for 10 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was poured into ice water and precipitated, the precipitate was collected by filtration and dried to give 1-ethyl-4-(4-nitrophenyl)piperazine. | [References]
