Manganese peroxidase (MnP) is used to oxidize Mn2+ to Mn3+ in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. It is used for the biodegreadation of macromolecular substances such as lignin and humic substances .

Manganese peroxidase from white-rot fungus (Phanerochaete chrysosporium) is from the peroxidase family and is used to oxidize manganese. It may be used to study wound healing.
[General Description]

Manganese peroxidase from white-rot fungus (Phanerochaete chrysosporium) is a lignin-modifying peroxidase that catalyzes the oxidation of Mn2+ to Mn3+. Mn3+ is stabilized by chelators like oxalic acid. Manganese peroxidase has a molecular weight of 40-50kDa and is a glycosylated heme protein.
[Biochem/physiol Actions]

Manganese peroxidase (MnP) is a hemecontaining glycoprotein that is produced by ligninolytic basidiomycetes. It requires hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant. MnP oxidizes Mn2+ to Mn3+. Mn3+ oxidizes phenolic rings to phenoxy radicals which results in the decomposition of various compounds .
