To a round-bottomed flask containing pyrazole (144 mmol, 100 g) and methanol (~200 mL), formaldehyde (131 g, 37% aqueous solution) was slowly added. The reaction mixture was stirred continuously at 25 °C for 4 h until a homogeneous solution (0193) was formed. Subsequently, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure and dried under vacuum for several hours to give the final 1-pyrazole methanol (127 g, 90% yield). | [References]
